BRIAN WALDER
I have been a member of the Greenwich club since 1960 when I was 18 years
old and rode a 650 BSA. My interest then was marshalling at Brands Hatch and I spent
many happy years at the Hairpin known as Druids. Round about 1970 I decided to
have a go at Trials and bought a Greeves TFS. After three or four years riding and
falling off this bike I traded it in for a new Montesa. What a lovely bike - wish
I still had it. During this period, I built myself a 650cc Triton complete with
close ratio gearbox and genuine 9 stud Thruxton head. It was a very quick bike,
and eventually I sold it to a friend in USA. I think it is still out there today.
After the Triton went, I replaced it with a Dominator 99 which I still have.
I
have been on the club Committee for about forty years and during this period I have
been Club Captain, Trials Secretary and Treasurer of the North Kent Trials Combine.
Events I have organised over the years include Sports Days at Brands Hatch, Gymkhanas,
Trials, Enduros and Club Off Road days at Joyce Green (Before the present set-up
was in operation). At the present time, I am a General Committee Member doing jobs
such as designing this web site and printing the club magazine.
